Nintendo President Satoru Iwata recently spoke to Bloomberg during the Game Developer's Conference. In regards toward a global launch for the Revolution, Mr. Iwata said "We don't think it's necessary to do the simultaneous worldwide launch simply because others are doing this." Kudos Mr. Iwata...kudos.
It's obvious that Nintendo strives to innovate and remain easily identified as the company attempting to evolve the industry beyond progressively better graphics and essentially define it for a new age, it's just nice to read these affirmations that we've selected the right company to stand behind once in awhile. However lacking in concrete information regarding the Revolution beyond the inclusion of a past competitor's games to its Virtual Console service, we at least now know that the Japanese will once again luck out over the rest of the world and will most likely receive the console first, while we're left to bathe in our salty, warm tears.

Ridiculous. Global Launch people, come on. I'm sick of importing because we always have to wait 3 months to get a system already out in Japan. We wait for the Rev just as patiently as Japan does.

I don't think it's that important. With a non-global launch, we get to see what others think about the system and the games during the wait. And not from gaming sites focused on hype or anti-hype, real players. Waiting sucks, but there's a bright side to everything.

Wait, since most likely the revolution is going to launch in November. Does that mean it'll launch in Japen in November and 3 months later launch here, IN JAN 07!!
...or does that mean it'll launch in Japan in september and than launch in Novermber here in the states.

It's been repeatedly stressed by Nintendo that the Revolution must launch in the US before Thanksgiving. As for Japan, perhaps it will be released earlier, or perhaps it will be released later (a la DS). I'm pretty sure he's referring to Europe, though, in that they will probably get it in '07 (a la everything, a year after).

I hope it's done like they did with GCN. Josh is right though about the "pre Thanksgiving" thing. Shogan also raises a good point about knowing more about the system beforehand.
In all probability, Europe will get it late and the US and Japan will get near simultaneous launch. If it comes out before thanksgiving that means my family will go through another infamous holiday, like in 2001. "Why are you playing with a lunchbox with wires attached?" "Its the new Nintendo damn it!"

I think that Josh is looking at this more realisticaly, we DID get the DS before Japan, they know that Thanksgiving is a huge market target in the states... Just because it launches at different times for different reasons, does not mean that we will have to wait for it. HOWEVER, don't try and quote me for saying it WILL launch here first, Just keeping the info together. ;P

Sorry to get off topic, but what is this exactly?
Is it humor or an attempt to inject your political views into a completely non-political post.
If its bait, it just worked.
As a matter of record, the US goverment extends Geneva Convention protections to any person that meets the requirements set forth in the accords. The controversy is not whether the US should adhere to Geneva conventions (which it does) but whether those conventions should be extended to persons who do not fulfill the requirements set forth in the accords.
Nevermind the fact that your intended humor is based on the statement that, "others" are adhering to the conventions when in fact the "others" the US is in a conflict with respect NO portion of the Geneva Conventions whatsoever, thus giving easy excuse to unsavory behavior on the part of the US gov't.
So please take your political witchhunt elsewhere. This is not the proper forum to spew political views disguised as humor even if you loosely tie it to a post.
